Indications for Nitro
Angina, Ischemic chest pain, Hypertension
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
Pulmonary Edema
Contraindications for Nitro
Hypotension, hypovolemia, intracranial bleeding or head injury, pericardial tamponade, severe bradycardia or tachycardia, RV infarction, previous administration in the last 24 hours: tadalafil (Cialis) (48 hours), vardenafil (Levitra), sildenafil (Viagra)
Adverse effects of Nitro
Headache, dizziness, weakness, reflex
Tachycardia, syncope, hypotension, N/V
Dry mouth, muscle twitching, diaphoresis
Precautions for Nitro
Not to be given if patient has had any erectile
Dysfunction (ED) medications within the past 48
Hours. Cialis (tadalafil) Levitra (vardenafil)
Viagra (sildenafil)
Dose and admin for Nitro
0.4 mg SL q. 5 minutes to a max of 3 doses
Infusion rate is 10 mcg/min, increase at
Additional 10 mcg/min, titrate to effect
