Bronchial smooth muscle relaxation
What are the contraindications of Epi?
Hypertension, Hypothermia, Pulmonary
Edema, Myocardial Ischemia, Hypovolemic
Shock
What are the adverse effects of Epi?
Nervousness, restlessness, headache, tremor, pulmonary edema, dysrhythmias, chest pain, hypertension, tachycardia, N/V, anxiety
What are some precautions of Epi?
Inactivated by exposure to sunlight and alkaline
Solutions. MAOI’s may potentiate effects.
Beta blockers will blunt effects
What is the Epi dose of allergic reaction and asthma
0.3-0.5mg IM/SC (1:1,000)
What is the Epi dose of cardiac arrest in an adult?
1mg IV/IQ over 3-5mins (1:10,000)
What is the Epi dose for bradycardia?
2-10 micrograms/minute infusion
What is the pediatric dose of Epi for allergic reaction?
0.01 mg/kg of a 1:1,000 IM/SC with Max of 0.3 mg
