Adenoma
Tumor of gland
Carcinoma
Cancerous tumor that grows from the epithelial (surface or skin) cells that cover all the outside and inside of the body.
Hematoma (be careful!)
In this term, -oma does not mean tumor rather it means a mass or COLLECTION OF BLOOD (Study guide!)
Sarcoma
- A malignant tumor that grows from cells of “fleshy” connective tissue such as muscle, bone and fat.
- Different from carcinoma because carcinoma grows from the epithelial cells that line outside or inside the body.
Chondroma
A benign tumor of the cartilage cells
Chondrosarcoma
A malignant tumor derived from cartilage cells. Arises from a type of flesh or connective tissue.
Myoma
A benign tumor. A tumor form of muscle tissue. A common one is found in the uterine muscle.
Myosarcoma
A malignant tumor derived from myogenic cells (muscle “flesh”)
Multiple Myeloma
Malignant tumor that occurs in the bone marrow tissue throughout the body
