Q

What is the structure of muscle fibres?

A
  • elongated cylinders that contain many nuclei surrounded by a thin, transparent membrane called the sarcolemma
  • hundreds of thousands of myofibrils are contained in a muscle fibre
  • sarcoplasmic reticulum surrounds each muscle fibre
  • each myofibril is made up of smaller microfilaments
