What is the function of the lymphatic system?
A
- collect fluid in the blood that escapes from capillaries and return it to the circulatory system

Structure of lymphatic system?
A
- network of lymph capillaries joined to larger lymph vessels
- lymph nodes located along the length of the lymph vessels

What is a lymph?
A
excess fluid in the tissues returned to the blood stream

Where do the lymph nodes occur?
A
neck, armpits, groin and alimentary canal (mouth to anus passage)

Structure of lymph nodes?
A
- capsule of connective tissue that extends into the node to form a framework
- within framework are lymphoid tissue, containing cells called macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells

how do lymphs move in the vessels?
A
- smooth muscle, skeletal muscle and valves push the lymph through the lymphatic vessel
