Musculocutaneous nerve Flashcards
What does the musculocutaneous nerve do after it leaves the axilla?
Pierces the coracobrachialis muscle, distally
What does the musculocutaneous nerve do after piercing the distal coracobrachialis muscle?
Travels down arm
anterior to brachialis
deep to biceps brachii
Where does the musculocutaneous nerve emerge between?
Laterally to biceps tendon
What does the musculocutaneous nerve do after it emerges?
Continues into forearm as lateral cutaneous nerve
What are the motor functions of the musculocutaneous nerve?
Innervate biceps brachii
brachialis
coracobrachialis muscles
What are the sensory functions of the musculocutaneous nerve?
Gives rise to lateral cutaneous nerve for forearm
which innervates the anterior and posterior lateral forearm
What does the lateral cutaneous nerve of forearm do after it emerges?
Goes deep into forearm
then pierces deep fascia to become subcutaneous
What does the lateral cutaneous nerve of forearm travel close to?
Cephalic vein
