Elbow joint Flashcards
What type of joint is the elbow joint?
Synovial joint
Hinge type
What are the articulating surfaces of the elbow joint?

Captiulum of humerus with radial head
What are the bursae in the elbow joint?
Intratendinous
Subtendinous
Subcutaneous
Where is the intratendinous bursa located?
Within the triceps brachii tendon
Where is the subtendinous bursa located?
Between the triceps tendon and the olecranon
Where is the subcutaneous bursa located?
Between olecranon and overlying connective tissue
What are the ligaments of the elbow joint?
Ulnar collateral ligament
Radial collateral ligament
Where does the radial collateral ligament attach?
Lateral epicondyle
to annular ligament of radius
What does the radial collateral ligament do?
Strengthen the lateral side of the joint capsule
Where does the ulnar collateral ligament attach?
Medial epciondyle
to olecranon of ulna, coronoid process of ulna
What does the ulnar collateral ligament do?
Stabilise the joint capsule medially
What are the movements of the elbow joint?
