Q

What are the motor functions of the median nerve?

A

Median nerve supplies

  • pronator teres
  • flexor carpi radialis
  • palmaris longus

-FDS

Anterior interosseus branch supplies

  • FDP lateral half!
  • flexor pollicis longus
  • pronator teres

Recurrent branch supplies

  • flexor pollicis brevis
  • abductor pollicis brevis
  • opponens pollicis

Palmar digital branches supply
-lateral two lumbricals

Q

What are the sensory functions of the median nerve?

A

Gives off palmar cutaneous branch
-supplies lateral palm, including palmar surface of thumb
beneath lateral 3.5 fingers

Palmar digital branches

  • supply palmar surace of lateral 3.5 fingers
  • and dorsal surface of lateral 3.5 fingers up to DIP
