Muscle Chart: Transversospinalis Group Flashcards
Semispinalis
Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Blood Supply
Attachment: Transverse processes of C4-T5 extending cranially to attach between the inferior and superior nuchal lines (capitis) and spinous process C2 (cervicis)
Innervation: Dorsal rami of spinal nerves
Blood Supply: Deep cervical artery
Semispinalis Movements
Extend spine and head on neck
Multifindus
Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Blood Supply
Attachment: Transverse process extending 2-4 spinal segments to insert onto the spinous processes. Run cranially from sacrum to cervical vertebrae
Innervation: Dorsal rami of spinal nerves
Blood Supply: Lumbar artery
Multifindus Movements
Unilaterally: Rotate vertebral column to opposite side
Bilaterally: Extend the vertebral column
Rotatores
Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Blood Supply
Attachments: Transverse process of lumbar spine to spinous process 1-2 segments above. Located in thoracic and cervical regions.
Innervation: Dorsal rami of spinal nerves
Blood Supply: Intercostal arteries
Rotatores Movements
Unilaterally: Rotate vertebral column to opposite side
Bilaterally: Extend the vertebral column
