MSK: Anatomy Of The Elbow And Wrist Flashcards
Name the 3 joints in the elbow.
- Ulno-humeral
- Radio-humeral
- Upper radioulnar joint
Name the 3 ligaments of the elbow.
- Medical collateral ligament
- Lateral collateral ligament
- Annular ligament
What factors which contribute to the stability of these joints?
- Muscles
- Ligaments
- Capsule
How is the ‘fat pad’ located around the elbow joint used clinically?
When an arm bone has been fractured there is effusion into the joint. This lifts the fat pad away from the bone.
This is used within practice when you are unsure as to whether a bone has been fractured as it might not be clear on an X-ray.
What is the Ulno humeral responsible for?
Flexion-Extension
What is the radio humeral responsible for?
Flexion-Extention
What is the upper radioulnar joint responsible for?
Pronation-Supination
What muscles are innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve?
Brachiallis, brachial biceps
What muscles are innervated by the radial nerve?
Barchioradialis, triceps, anconeus
What are the structures found in the cubital fossa? (lateral to medial)
TAN
Tendon: Tendon of biceps brachii
Artery: Radial artery
N: Radial Nerve
What is the name of the bursa surrounding the elbow?
Olecranon bursa
