premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
irritability, affect lability, dysphoria, depressed mood/feelings of hopelessness, anxiety symptoms that repeatedly occur during menstruation and stops after
criteria A-C must be me for a majority of menstrual cycle for 12 months
prevalence, onset, incidence of PMDD
prevalence 2.5%
can occur during any time
40 month incidence - 2.5%
Differential diagnosis for PMDD
bipolar, MDD, PDD, dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual cycles) , premenstrual syndrome
Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder
child disorder characterized by persistent and chronic high irritability and frequent outbursts that interfere with functioning
outbursts must occur frequently or across at least 2 settings for 1 year
Diagnosis for ages
prevalence
must occur before 10 years old but can not be diagnosed before age 6
usually diagnosed between 7-18 years of age
prevalence unclear, estimated around 2-5%
