Paraphilic Disorders
sexual attraction and arousal to socially inappropriate people and/or objects
ass/ with distress and/or harm/threat of harm to others
commonly occur with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse
frotteuristic disorder
sexual arousal from touch/rubbing against a non-consenting person in public
exhibitionistic disorder
achieving sexual arousal and gratification by exposing genitals to unsuspecting strangers
specify if its to adults or children
voyeuristic disorder
intense arousal from observing an unsuspecting individuals undress or get naked
fetishistic disorder
sexual attraction to non-living objects or specific non-genital body parts
Pedophilic disorders
sexual arousal and arousal toward children
person must be at least 16 and at least 5 years older than the child
specifiers exclusive vs nonexclusive (only attracted to children?), attracted to females, males or both, is it limited to incest
has to last at least 6 months
doesn’t matter if they act on it or not
Causes
early experiences - molested as child
low levels of arousal toward appropriate stimuli
social deficits - lacking social skills w/ adults
low suppression of urges
reinforcement via orgasm
Treatments - psychological
covert sensitization - senarios, have them look at negative aspects of what they are doing
orgasmic reconditioning - think about something appropriate
CBT- relapse prevention

pharmacological
chemical castration
cyproterone acetate
medroxyprogesterone (Depo-Provera)
Gender Dysphoria
causes and treatments
when a persons biological sex is inconsistent with his or her sense of who he/she really is
must distinguish from: same sex patterns, disorders of sex development, transvestic fetishism (cross dressing)
causes- biological unclear
treatments- sex-reassignment surgery must have evaluation and education before and 2 professionals must live 1 to 2 years on opposite role
