15
Q

What are 3 types of loose connective tissue?

A

areolar- collagen and elastin fibres in soft matrix
- It surrounds blood vessels, nerves, esophagus

Adipose- mostly fat cells
- It protects organs, stores energy and insulates body

Recticular- reticular fires and cells. Found in spleen, lymph nodes and bone marrow

16
Q

What is cartilage and what is it composed of

A

it is composed of cells called chondrocytes.
-it has no blood vessels and has a rubbery, flexible matrix

17
Q

What happens when cartilage is damaged?

A

it heals very slowly and it may not heal at all

18
Q

What are the different types of cartilage?

A

hyaline, elastic, fibrocartilage

19
Q

What us Osseous tissue?

A

the bone

20
Q

What is the bone composed of?

A

they are composed of bone cells called osteocytes

21
Q

What are some functions of the bone?

A

-serves as a storage site for calcium
- supports the body and protects organs
- it has a rich blood supply which means it heals quickly

22
Q

What is blood and its functions?

A

Blood is unique among the connective tissues that exists as a fluid.
- It is composed by various types of blood cells surrounded by a liquid matrix called plasma
- it transports cells from one part of the body to another
- It does not contain any fibres

23
Q

Why does dense connective tissue take time to heal?

A

it has few blood supply and it has no vessels

24
Q

What are the functions of dense connective fibrosus tissue?

A
25
Q

Why does cartilage heal slowly?

A

It heals slowly due to the lack of blood circulation and it has no vessels

26
Q

What is the nervous tissue and what are the functions?

A

it is found in the spinal cord, nerves, and brain
- it has a high degree of excitability and conductivity which allows it to communicate rapids with other parts of the body

27
Q

What are two types of nervous tissue?

A

Neurons- conduct nervous impulses
Neuroglia- protect and assist neurons

28
Q

What are the 3 types of membranes?

A

The mucous membrane, serous membrane, and cutaneous membrane

29
Q

What does muscular tissue consists of?

A

it consists of elongated cells to become more active

30
Q

What are membranes?

A

they are sheets of tissues

31
Q

what are three types of muscular tissues?

A

skeletal, cardiac and smooth

32
Q

What are the functions of skeletal tissue?

A

movement, straited, voluntary

33
Q

What are the functions of Cardiac?

A

Heart, intercalated dics, involuntary

34
Q

What are functions of smooth muscle tissue?

A

organs, digestive tract, lacks sitration and involuntary

35
Q

What is the mucous membrane and its functions? What are some examples?

A

Mucous membrane- lines any tube/ structure open to the environment- examples are the mouth stomach, and respiratory tracts

36
Q

What is the serous membrane and its functions? Give examples-

A

Serous membrane lines the inside of cavities not open to the environment. Examples- pleura and pericaridium

37
Q

What is curtaneous membrane?

A

It is the skin

38
Q

What is another function of the serous membrane?

A

it also lines some closed body cavities and covers many organs

39
Q
A
