What is Onboarding?
The process beyond orientation that helps integrate a new employee with an organization and its culture

What are Restrictive Clauses?
Terms that prevent employees from partaking in certain activities. A common example is a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which forbids a worker from sharing proprietary information with anyone outside the organization.
Non-compete and non-solicitation agreements are other examples.
What is Resignation and Termination?
A contract covers the conditions under which an employee can resign or an employer can terminate employment. It also includes information about applicable severance payments.
What is Length of Employment?
Whereas an offer letter establishes a worker as an employee at will, unless otherwise stated, a contract explicitly says what the length of employment will be.
What are Other Terms?
A contract also defines what will happen if an employee becomes disabled or passes away. A candidate should also expect to see a list of noncash compensation and perks in a contract.
What is a W-4 Form?
New hires complete this form to inform the employer how much of their income taxes should be withheld.
What is an I-9 Form?
This form is used to verify a new hire’s identity and employment authorization. Both citizens and noncitizens who are permitted to work within the United States must complete this form and provide proof of eligibility (e.g., a driver’s license and Social Security card).
What is the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA)?
Mandates all business with 4 or more employees must ensure that employees are legally authorized to work in the US
What is an H-1B and H-1C?
Specialty occupations, DOD workers, nurses working in shortage areas
What is O-1?
Extraordinary ability in science, art, business, education, athletics
What is F-1 and M-1?
Students in academic, language, or vocational programs
What is L-1A and L-1B?
Transferring foreign-based managers, executives, or specialty employees
What is Orientation?
An introductory phase in the new employee process that focuses on tasks, tools, forms, and documentation to begin employment with a new organization
