What does C. diff cause? Aetiology? + Rx?

A

Pseudomembranous colitis

Caused by Abx disturbing normal gut flora – 3Cs (clindamycin, cephalosporins, ciprofloxacin)

Rx: 1st line: metronidazole; 2nd line: vancomycin
