Speak for the people and say what politicians are doing about it?
What is issue framing?
Politicians frame issues to win support. They influence the media to put spin on issues their way.
What is political socialization?
Process in which we develop our political attitudes values and beliefs
What is selective exposure?
Process which individuals screen out messages that do not conform to their own biases
What is selective perception?
Process by which individuals perceive what they want in media messages

Different reasons (informing, to persuade them, political takes)
What is audience fragmentation?
Growth of diversified media have scattered people. All sorts of media have different perspectives on politics so not everyone’s perspective will be influenced by one or two sources.
What are the three media techniques?
Gatekeeper- highlight what we should talk about.
Watchdog- look for controversial headlines (focus on the bad)
Scorekeeper- like a game, keep score and care about polls
