Math exam Flashcards
how do you calculate mean
Add all the values together then dived by how many numbers there are (the average)
how do you calculate median
middle value (when there are 2 calculate the mean of those values) (add them and divide by 2)
how do you calculate mode
most repeated value
whats the rate of change
The slope value
Whats the inital value
Y-int
what is Z-pattern
Alternate angles are equal
What is F-pattern
corresponding angles are equal
what is C-pattern
co-interior angles add up to 180
what is inscribed angle theorem
the angle between 2 radius is 2 times bigger then the angle between 2 cords if the radius is intersecting
What is Reflex angles
the central angle and the reflex angle they add up to 360 and the central angle is always smaller
improper to mixed
Divide numerator by the denominator for your whole number then keep the denominator then times the whole number and the denominator and have the remainder as your numerator
Mixed to improper
multiply the whole number and the demominator plus add the numertor for your top number and the bottom remains the same
Fraction into percentage
top number divided by bottom number x 100
how to find the percent of a number
put the percent into a decimal and times it by the number for example 25% of 40 would be 40x0.25
when it asks you to express as a single power and your see a division sign what do you do with the exponents
minus them (Quotient law)
when it asks you to express as a single power and your see a multiplication sign what do you do with the exponents
add them (product law)
when it asks you to express as a single power and your see a exponent inside and outside the bracket
multiply them (power law)
What is the value if the exponents are equal to zero
one
what is a coefficient
term beside a variable
what is a constant
term that stands alone
what is a Monomial
A polynomial with one term
What is a binomial
Polynomial with two terms
What is a trinomial
A polynomial with three terms
how to find the Q0
smallest value
how to find Q1
middle of lower half
how to find Q2
Middle value
How to find Q3
middle of upper half
How to find Q4
largest value
how to find y value in a first difference table
find what 0 is equal too if there is no zero continue the patter to reach 0 and set that value equal to y
when being given 2 sets of points what should you do (determine the slope of the line segment)
m=y2-y1/x2-x1
if the value if greater then or equal too you put a ? line for inequalitys
solid line
If an equation is being translated up or down what’s that refering to
the y-int
If an equation is being Rotated what’s that refering to
the m value (slope)
what is simple interest
simple interest is interest grown on a fixed number in your account
what is compound interest
compound interest is interest built on a growing number
what are natural numbers?
Countable numbers without zero
what are whole numbers
countable numbers plus zero
what are integers
positive and negative number
what are rational numbers
a fraction with two integers
what are irrational numbers
All non repeating decimals example pie
what are real numbers
all rational and irrational numbers
what are imaginary nummbers
numbers with the weird j or square rooted
what is complex numbers
any imaginary or real number
what is parallel lines
slope= equal
y-int=different
what is perpendicular lines
slope= negative reciprocals
y-int=same/different
when the line is horizontal the slope is
zero
when the line is vertical the slope is
undefined
