matching vent and perfusion Flashcards
hypoxia
low PO2
hypoxemia
low PaO2 (<85)
PaO2=
PaCO2/.8
PA02=
PIO2-OaCI2/.8
causes of hypoxemia
alv. hypoventialtion, reduced PI02, reduced FIO2, shunt, diffusion abnormality (interstitial,, EXERCISE), V/Q mismatch (main)
hypercapnia
PaCO2>45, affects CNS
causes of hypercapnia
alveolar hypoventilation (can’t/won’t breath), increased dead space (shallow breath), increased CO production with fixed ventilation, severe V/Q mismatch
diagnose a shint
100$ FIO2… little to no change in hemoglobin sat/paO2
V/q ideal
1, normal .84 ( V=4.2, Q=5)
regional ventilation
higher V at base of lung, also more perfusion
high V/q
less blood flow (emph, PE, hem..) compensate by rerouting blood
low v/q
high Q, low V by blocked alveoli, low PAo2, high PACo2 reroute blood CHECK MEEEE
