What is the most common injury after anesthesia?
Although injuries from anesthesia are uncommon, the most
frequent injury that does occur is corneal abrasion. It can occur
during general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, or monitored
anesthesia care and requires the anesthetist to pay close
attention to the potential for eye injury at all times.

What are the risk factors that are associated with an
increased risk of postoperative blindness?
Risk factors for the development of postoperative blindness
include: intraoperative hypotension, male sex, obesity, anemia
from blood loss greater than 1 liters, surgery greater than 5
hours in duration, use of a Wilson frame, and decreased
percent colloid administration.
