Q

What are the 5 stages of the Lysogenic infection?

A
  1. Attachment
  2. Injection
  3. Integration
  4. Cell multiplication
  5. Enters Lytic Cycle (when triggered)

-called PROPHAGE

Q

What happens during the prophage activity?

A
  1. virus can not stay in this stage forever
  2. DNA of the prophage will become active and remove itself from the DNA of the host cell
  3. It will then direct the synthesis of new virus particles

Lysogenic can turn into Lytic

Q

What happens when retroviruses infect a host cell?

A

Produce DNA copy of their RNA genes
RNA –> DNA
works backwards

DNA like prophage, is inserted into the DNA of the host cell
