what is a lymph vessel
A thin tube of endothelial cells that collects lymph from tissues in different parts of the body and returns it to the bloodstream.
what is the function of lymphatics
- returns excess fluid to circulation
- defense against microorganisms and disease
- distributes immune cells e..g lymphocytes
what is a lymph node
nodes filter substances that travel through the lymphatic fluid, and they contain lymphocytes (white blood cells) that help the body fight infection and disease.
where are clusters of lymph nodes found
neck, axilla (underarm), chest, abomen and groin
what is lymhedema/ oedema
lymph/fluid builds up in surrounding soft tissues in your arms and legs, causing swelling.
