Caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency.
HIV seectrively attacks and kills helper T cells(CD4/T4cells) . When its below 200 per microliter, it is no longer HIV , It is ( )

Q

This is the cause of only 13 % of lymphomas. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphocytes or lymphocytic stem cells. A key step in ( this Dx) involved the development of abnormally large cancerous B cells, called Redd-sternberg cells. Instead of undergoing the Normal cell cycle of life and death these Reed-Sternberg cells dont die and they continue to produce painless Lymph nodes are a common symptoms. Can progress to night sweat, fevers, gastrointestinal problems, weight loss. Physicians are unsure of the cause of this Dx, but some thinks it possibly caused by exposure to virus. Tx with radiation can produce a remission of sx for 10 years or more in 90% of patients. Success increases further if radiation is combined with chemotherapy.

Q

Abnormal (cancerous) blood condition involving the WBC’s , causing extremely increased WBC counts. Sx can be fatigue, fever, weakened immune response, swollen nose lymph nodes, and unexplained weight loss. Diagnosis be done with blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy . Treatment may include chemotherapy, radiation and or stem cell/bone marrow transplants.

A

Leukemia

  1. Myeloid Leukemia-presence of abnormal cells in the bone marrow(more common in adults)
  2. Lymphoid leukemia-presence of abnormal lymphocytes(often seen in children)

Q

Red streaks on the skin due to inflammation of superficial lymph vessels. Commonly occurs on the limbs, starting at an infected site and progressing proximally up to the extremity toward the trunk. Lymph nodes in the region may be swollen. Often this can be caused by a strepcoccal infection. Diagnosis may be confirmed by a biopsy and culture of tissue from the area to determine the pathogen present. (This Dx) is that the infection may spread into the blood stream.

Q

Non Hoskins lymphoma is made u of many different types of lymphomas. For this reason, (this Dx) lymphoma accounts for the majority of lymphoma cases. Non-hodgkin’s lymphoma has been one of the most rapidly increasing types of cancer in the U.S.
In this Dx the body produces abnormal lymphocytes that continue to divide and grow uncontrollably. This oversupply of lymphocytes crowds into the function will decline. Diagnosis is done with blood tests and is confirmed with a biopsy of a lymph node. Lymphoma cancer can spread to other body area. Tx often involves chemotherapy , radiation and or stem cell transplant.

Q

Sxm. Butterfly shaped rash over the nose and cheeks. In addition to skin rash , kidney damage, arthritis, anemia, vascular inflmmation and CNS deficits can result. Affects women non times more often a=than men, immune system antigen recognition breaks down and the immune system produces auto-antibodies. Auto antibodies attack normal healthy body cells instead of invading pathogens. This is a widespread autoimmune Dx causing bast amount of damage to tissues like the clotting factors, RBC’s plates, and lymphocytes. Tx administering drugs to depress the immune system and or corticosteroids.
