Lymph Node Regions- From Tables Flashcards
Occipital Post. auricular Ant. Auricular Superficial parotid Facial
Superficial Lymph Nodes of the Head
Deep parotid
retropharyngeal
Deep lymph nodes of the head
Submental
submandibular
external jugular
anterior jugular
Superficial cervical (neck) lymph nodes
Superior deep cervical
inferior deep cervical
Deep cervical lymph nodes
Occipital nodes- (1-3) collects from posterior scalp
EMPTY INTO
INFERIOR DEEP CERVICAL
Posterior auricular (Retroauricular)- (1-3) posterior to ear on mastoid- collects from scalp and external ear, empties
SUPERIOR DEEP CERVICAL
Anterior Auricular nodes (Preauricular)- (1-3) collects from anterior
lateral scalp and anterior external ear EMPTIES INTO
SUPERIOR DEEP CERVICAL
Superficial Parotid node- (1-10) collects from lacrimal gland, external
ear, and scalp; may anastomose with anterior auricular, empties into
SUPERIOR DEEP CERVICAL
Facial nodes- (1-12) located along the facial veins, collects from skin
and mucous membranes of the face (4 branches) , then all drain into
SUBMANDIBULAR NODES
DEEP LYMPH NODES OF THE HEAD EMPY INTO THE DEEP
CERVICAL LYMPH NODES
Submental: (2-3) inferior to chin in submental fascial
space, just superficial to mylohyoid muscle near the
mandibular symphysisà drain both sides of chin, lower
lip, floor of mouth, apex of tongue, mandibular incisors
an associated tissues-then empty into
SUBMANDIBULAR OR DIRECTY INTO DEEP CERVICAL
Submandibular: (3-6) near inferior border of ramus, just
superficial to submandibular gland and within the
submandibular fascial spaceà drain cheeks, upper lip,
body of tongue, anterior hard palate, all teeth except
mandibular incisors and maxillary 3rdsà drains froM
submandibular and sublingual salivary glands, secondary for submental and facial regions then dumps into superior deep cervical
what superficial lymph node drains the Mandibular incisors and then drains into the submandibular or deep cervical
Submental
what superficial lymph node drains all the teet except the mandibular incisors and the maxillary 3rds
submandibular
External jugular: (AKA: superior superficial lateral
cervical) run along the neck next to external jugular vein
superficial to sternocleidomastoidà may be secondary
node for occipital, retroauricular, anterior auricular and
superficial parotid then empty into
deep cervical nodes
