what are the types of lung tumour?
A
small cell - 25% non-small cell squamous cell carcinoma - 40% most common, central, smoking related large cell - 20% adenocarcinoma - 15%

what are the signs and symptoms of lung tumours?
A
cough haemoptysis -blood stained sputum pneumonia metastasis -bone, liver, brain dysphagia svc obstruction recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy (hoarse)

what are the stages of lung cancer?
A
- <5cm localized, not spread
- 5-7cm spread to lymph nodes
- > 7cm spread to major chest structure
- (metastatic) both lungs/metastasized (spread) to another part of body

what is sleep apnoea?
A
airway obstruction whilst asleep
- 10 sec or more duration
- airway muscle tone drops

what are the symptoms of sleep apnoea?
A
snorer
-if not, central
drowsiness during the day

what are consequences of sleep apnoea?
A
fall asleep driving
increased risk of MI due to low O2
multisystem health effects

what are the tx for sleep apnoea?
A
mandibular advancement appliance
CPAP- continuous positive airway pressure
positional therapy
