Jairus’s Daughter and the Woman with a Hemorrhage
Circumstances in which the miracle (for the women with a hemorrhage) occurred/What transpired
After Jesus returns from an unspecified place or event, a waiting crowd welcomes him. Jairus, an official of the synagogue, came forward and fell at the feet of Jesus to beg Him to come to his house. He revealed that his only daughter, who was about 12-years-old, was dying. As Christ made His way to the house, the crowds almost crushed Him. A woman afflicted with a hemorrhage for the past 12 years, who had spent her entire livelihood on doctors yet was unable to be healed, came up behind Christ and touched the tassel on His cloak, which immediately caused her bleeding to stop. Jesus then questioned who it was that touched her. As the crowd denied that it was them, Peter urged Jesus to hurry since the crowd was pushing and pressing in on Him. However, Jesus stood His ground and asked again because He felt that His power was used. The woman with the hemorrhages came before Christ, trembling. She fell down before Him and explained to Him and the entire crows why she had touched him and how she was healed immediately by it. Christ excused her, stating “Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Circumstances in which the miracle (for Jairus’s daughter) occurred/What transpired
Someone from Jairus’s house arrived and informed him that his daughter was dead and that he should no longer trouble the teacher. Upon hearing this, Christ said, “Do not be afraid; just have faith and she will be saved.” Upon arriving at the house, Christ allowed no one to enter with Him except for Peter, John, James, and the child’s father and mother. All were weeping and mourning for her, but Christ said, “Do not weep any longer, for she is not dead but sleeping.” They ridiculed Him because they believed she was dead, but Christ took her hand and called to her, “Child, arise!” Her breath returned, and she rose. Christ directed that the girl be given something to eat. Her parents were astounded and were then informed by Christ to tell no one about what had happened.
Who was being healed?
Jarius’s dying 12-year-old daughter and a woman suffering from hemorrhages for 12 years
How were they healed?
Jairus’ daughter was healed when Christ took her by the hand and called to her, “Child, arise!”; The woman with the hemorrhages was healed when she touched the tassel on Christ’s cloak as He was heading to Jairus’s house
How they were healed: The passage that states this
Luke 8: 54; But he took her by the hand and called to her, “Child, arise!”; Luke 8: 44; [She] came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. Immediately her bleeding stopped
Why did Jesus heal them?
Christ healed Jairus’s daughter because he saw his faith in that he fell at the feet of Christ and begged for Him to come to his house, showing that Jairus was desperate and trusted that Christ was able to bring his daughter out of her imminent death; Christ allowed for the woman with the hemorrhage to be healed because He saw that her faith was apparent

Luke 8: 41-42 (Woman with Hemorrhages); Luke 8: 48 (Jairus’s Daughter); He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
What words led to them being healed?
“Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace.”; “Child, arise!”
What is the purpose of this miracle?
Emphasize the importance of faith and trust in the All-Mighty; Jesus performed this miracle to teach all about how having faith in and praying to God can bring good things to them; Christ may not have wanted people to know about Him saving Jairus’s daughter from death because He did not want people focusing on the miracles He performed, but rather the message He proclaimed and the death He was going to die and because He knew that publicity over such miracles might hinder His mission and divert public attention from His message
