Faith in The Church Part Two Flashcards
This deck will assist you in further understanding why and how the Church functions.
Who continues the saving work of Christ so that it wouldn’t die out with Him in His Resurrection?
The Church
Describe the Scriptures.
They were initially preserved in the memory of people, but it was eventually written down before the 2nd century AD.
Today, when can we see the sacrifice Christ made for us on the Cross and the Salvation offered to us from such an event?
We see this in the Holy Eucharist at Mass, particularly in the transubstantiation, where the bread and wine become the actually Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
Why did Jesus forgive the paralyzed man first and then heal him?
Jesus did this to show that He was capable of truly forgiving someone’s sins by ridding them of their illness, which ancient Jews believed to be a punishment from God due to past sins.
What are nuclear bombings and human experimentations examples of?
Moral teachings
Are there mentions of nuclear bombings and human experimentations in the Bible?
Not really because the authors of the Bible only hoped to focus on matters of their faith, not the implications of it.
HOWEVER, these examples can be categorized under the Ten Commandments, specifically the Fifth Commandment (“Thou shall not kill”). It is up to the Church to interpret the theological knowledge entailed within the Bible and its implications.
