Where would you find a list of restricted aerodromes?

A

List of CAT A/B/C aerodromes in OMC Section 6. At present only 5 CAT C aerodromes;

CAT A – unrestricted. Self brief from flight documents.
CAT B – restricted. Self brief from OMC published info.
CAT C – restricted. Initial Qualification - a visit required as observer or simulator.

When can you use a restricted aerodrome for which you are not qualified?

A

i) If nominated as an alternate the Initial Qualification requirement may be satisfied by an AV brief and self study. This qualification remains applicable AS ALTERNATE ONLY for 12 months.
ii) In exceptional circumstances a dispensation may be authorised.

How often do you need to re-brief on visit/restricted aerodromes to remain valid?

A

Ideally should visit within 6 months of initial qualification and must be carried out before 12 months. Revalidation is achieved by operating within 12 months. Initial qualification for CAT C aerodromes lapses if no visit in 5 years.

What are BA’s take-off/landing recency requirements for a Captain/FO?

A

EASA - Min 3 take-offs/landings in 90 days (extended to 120 days if with TC).
BA – additionally Capt 1 to/ldg in 35 days FO simply needs to have been operating. These can be alleviated to 45 days.

What is the ‘Arrival Policy’ in terms of ETA?

A

Normal policy is to arrive on stand between STA -15/STA. At LHR every effort should be made not to land before STA/-20. Commanders may use contingency to ensure a punctual arrival.

A

Up to 10 mins by slow taxi. Greater than 10mins request Remote Hold via Airport Centre. If possible delays should be taken on stand and a take-off should be made within CTOT window (-5/+10).

  1. What action should you take if a code has been misallocated? Is there a deadline by which the code should be changed? What action should you take if you cannot get them changed?
A

Contact station staff by VHF/ACARs. Deadline to alter is 0000Z on day of departure. Contact DFCM.

Are early departures permitted?

A

Up to 10 mins. Earlier should be avoided except when in the opinion of the commander met conditions might otherwise cause long delays/endanger a/c.
