Where would you find a list of restricted aerodromes?
List of CAT A/B/C aerodromes in OMC Section 6. At present only 5 CAT C aerodromes;
CAT A – unrestricted. Self brief from flight documents.
CAT B – restricted. Self brief from OMC published info.
CAT C – restricted. Initial Qualification - a visit required as observer or simulator.
When can you use a restricted aerodrome for which you are not qualified?
i) If nominated as an alternate the Initial Qualification requirement may be satisfied by an AV brief and self study. This qualification remains applicable AS ALTERNATE ONLY for 12 months.
ii) In exceptional circumstances a dispensation may be authorised.
How often do you need to re-brief on visit/restricted aerodromes to remain valid?
Ideally should visit within 6 months of initial qualification and must be carried out before 12 months. Revalidation is achieved by operating within 12 months. Initial qualification for CAT C aerodromes lapses if no visit in 5 years.
What are BA’s take-off/landing recency requirements for a Captain/FO?
EASA - Min 3 take-offs/landings in 90 days (extended to 120 days if with TC).
BA – additionally Capt 1 to/ldg in 35 days FO simply needs to have been operating. These can be alleviated to 45 days.
How many sectors must you complete as a new LH Captain before giving away a landing?

600m RVR crosswind 2/3rd Capt limit
When is the night quota (night jet ban) period and what are the earliest time of landing at LHR?
2330-0600 local. BA policy to use 0602L. Any flight with an STA of 0605L may land before 0602 BUT NOT BEFORE 0432L
What is the earliest time of landing at LHR?
0432L
What is the ‘Arrival Policy’ in terms of ETA?
Normal policy is to arrive on stand between STA -15/STA. At LHR every effort should be made not to land before STA/-20. Commanders may use contingency to ensure a punctual arrival.
In what circumstances can you legitimately disregard BA’s arrival punctuality policy (i.e arrival at STA/-15 max -20)?
When widespread and prolonged disruption/emergency/LVP’s/requested by ATC.
You are delayed downroute and your new ETA at LHR is after the night jet ban (2330L). What do you do?
Consult Ops control to establish that there are sufficient night movements available and that adequate handling facilities will be available.
How would you absorb a slot delay at LHR?
Up to 10 mins by slow taxi. Greater than 10mins request Remote Hold via Airport Centre. If possible delays should be taken on stand and a take-off should be made within CTOT window (-5/+10).
When should doors be close for punctuality purposes?
STD -3mins
