Define a “lever”
Any rigid of body that applies force to an object through a fulcrum point (pivot point)
Name the 3 things a lever consists of?
1.Effort
2.fulcrum
3.load
Define the “effort” in a lever
A point where’d force is applied to the muscle
(Exp;bicep)
Define “fulcrum” in a lever
The pivot point like a joint
(Exp;elbow)
Define the “load” in a lever
The load point (weight)
At the body part and the object we are trying to move
(Exp;dumbbell)
Define a “first class lever”
The fulcrum is in the middle of the effort and the load
(Exp:The neck raising your head to head a football)
Fulcrum: neck
Effort: muscles
Load: Weight of the head
Define “second class lever”
The load is in the middle between the fulcrum and effort
(Exp;found in ankle area, when standing on tiptoe such as calf raise )
Fulcrum:ball of foot
Load:weight of body
Effort:contraction of muscle
Define ‘third class lever”
The effort is in the middle between the fulcrum and the load
(Exp:bicep curl)
Fulcrum:elbow joint
Effort:contracting
