Xを verb
The object particle を is used to indicate the object of a transitive verb (a verb which requires as object for it to make sense).
水を飲みました。
I drank the water.
Xをします
Many nouns can be followed by をします/しました to show that they are being/ will be/ have been done.
Use the negative for of する to express the opposite (negative) statement.
パーティーをしました。
Had a party.
私は宿題をしません。
I will not do homework.
何をしますか。
Phrase used to ask “what are you doing?”
なん or なに
Both these words mean “what”, but なん can only be used when it precedes words in the た, だ or な row OR when it is suffixed by a counter e.g 何歳
これはなんですか
What is this?
なんで
A phrase which can be used to as “why” or “how”.
placeで verb
This structure with the particle で is used to show that an action occurred/ is occurring at a specific place.
毎日、私は大学で勉強します。
Every day, I study at university.
Verb stem~ませんか
An expression used to invite someone to do something.
“would you like to do…”
こうえんへいきませんか。
Would you like to go to the park?
Verb stem ~ましょう
An expression used to say “let’s do…”. It can be used by the speaker as an offer to the listener, or as an agreement that they should do something already suggested by the other.
昼ご飯を食べましょう。
Let’s eat lunch?
