Lesson 5 Grammar Flashcards
placeへ/に verb
When a verb indicates movement, the particle へ or に is used after the place and before the verb.
今日、私はロンドンへ行きます。
Today, I will go to London.
どこ_も
To deny anything covered by an interrogative word, attach the particle も to the end of it.
Note: If you need to have a direction or place particle, it goes between the interrogative and the particle.
明日、私はどこへも行きません。
Tomorrow, I will not go anywhere.
vehicleで verb
To say you are going somewhere via a means of transport other than walking, place the particle で after the means of transport and before the verb.
昨日、私は家へタクシーで来ました。
Yesterday, I came home by taxi.
いつ
いつ is an interrogative meaning “when”.
It can be placed at the beginning of a sentence to ask when something will/ has happened.
It does not use the particle に
いつクラスがはじますか。
When will class begin?
~よ
The particle よ is used at the end of a sentence to emphasise information the listener does not know, or to provide extra assertiveness over a judgement.
ロンドンは大き町ですよ。
London is a really big city, you know.
そうですね
A phrase used to express sympathy or agreement with something the speaker has said.
