Using ~か in an “or” statement.
ーか can be used in the same way as “or” when choosing/ asking between two alternatives for the answer.
これはジャスティンさんのぺんですか、ジミーさんのぺんですか。
Is this pen Justin’s, or is it Jimmy’s?
Substituting の for a noun.
The particle の can stand in place of a noun when it is clear what place of a noun when it is clear what you are talking about. However, it only can only stand in place of things and not people.
あれはエドワードさんのかばんですか。
いいえ、エドワードさんのじゃありません。
Is that bag Edward’s?
No, it is no Edward’s.
Using お~ as an honorific.
Use お~ as a prefix for nouns when speaking politely.
これは(お)皿どこですか。
Where are the plates?
これ/それ/あれ
This (near to speaker)/ That (near to listener)/ That over there (away from both listener and speaker.
そうですか
An expression which shows acknowledgement of some new information.
