If the mudhaaf ilayhi is omitted, قبلَ and بعدَ become indeclineable, and always have DHAMMA.

A

e.g. أبي الآن مديرٌ, و كانَ مِن قبلُ مدرِّساً

Here من قبلُ is short for مِن قبلِ ذالك (before that), but the mudhaaf ilayhi (ذالك) has been ommitted.

Same with مِن بعدُ

v) مَرْضى is the plural of مريضٌ - the pl is a diptote, and so has no tanwin.

Killed قتيلٌ - becomes قَتْلى (pl)
Prisoner أسيرٌ becomes أسرَى (pl)
Wounded جريحٌ becomes جَرحَى (pl)
Stupid أَحْمَقُ becomes حَمْقَى
