What are the 9 characteristics of the equality act?
Race and ethnicity, disability, religion or belief, Age, sexual orientation, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity and marriages or civil relationships
Types of discrimination
Harassment, victimisation, direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, associative discrimination, discrimination by perception and harassment by third party.
The equality act 2010
Replaces all of the separate acts around discrimination. Covers harassment, victimisation, direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, associative discrimination
Discriminating by perception and harassment
Health and Safety
at Work Act 1974
The employer must provide employees with appropriate safety equipment. The company may be subject to legal action if they don’t comply with health and safety regulations. The business may also be made to close if they don’t meet regulations
National minimum wage act
This states the least amount of money that needs to be paid to an employee and also includes the living wage act which gets paid to people over 21
