what is the sport specific mental health definition
state of successful performance or mental function, resulting in productive activities, fufilling relationships with other people, and the ability to adapt to change and cope with adversity
what is mental health literacy
knowledge and beliefs about mental disorders which aid their recognition, management, or prevention
what is the definition of mental performance
development of mental and emotional skills, techniques, attitudes, perspectives, and processes that lead to performance enhancement and positive personal development
what are the different systems involved in mental health
macrosystem = natl/intl sporting bodies
exosystem = athletes sport, rules, governing body
microsystem = coaches, teammates, family, MPC, physio
athletes = mental health and performance knowledge
what is the relationship between mental health and optimal functioning
not mutually exclusive
- can reach optimal levels of functioning with mental illness
what is the treatment for mental health
psychotherapy
medication (some restricted by WADA)
