Recent URTI
Incomplete/missing Hib vaccination
Heavy vocal use

Hoarseness of voice Dysphagia Sore throat Cough Fever

A
Clinical diagnosis
Can use a laryngoscopy

What scoring systems can be used to asses need for abx?
A
CENTOR
FeverPAIN

What is the management of laryngitis?
A
Self-limiting (1-2 weeks)
Supportive
- vocal rest
- OTC analgesia
- Steam inhalation
Abx if indicated = phenoxymethylpenicillin

When should laryngitis be followed up?
A
If hoarseness persists more than 4 weeks
