the colon, the rectum and the anus

in the rectum

the anus

the expulsion of faeces through the anus (it is not the same as excretion)

the removal of waste substances produced by chemical reactions in the body (for example carbon dioxide removed by the lungs)

the use of food molecules absorbed to build more complex molecules such as proteins (takes place in all cells)
