Management of cat bites
Pathogen:
Antibiotics:
Vaccines:
Pasturella Multicida
Amox clav if on the hand (doxy or septra if pen allergy)
Don’t close the wound
Give tetanus
Give rabies if you can’t observe the animal
When to consider rabies
Rabid animal or suspected rabies
Give Rabig 4 doses
Observe animal for 10 days
If can’t be observed call public health
List two possible ways you can sedate a kiddo for a lac repair in ED
Intranasal midazolam
IV/IM ketamine
