Client: Ma’am, as part of our SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) you may be eligible for the WIC (Women, Infant and Children) program even if you don’t qualify for food stamps.
INT: Señora como parte de SNAP, nuestro programa suplementario de asistencia alimentaria, usted puede ser elegible para el programa WIC (Mujeres, Lactantes y Niños), aunque no califique para los cupones alimenticios.
LEP: No entiendo por qué mi familia no califica para los vales de despensa cuando muchos vecinos si los reciben y ellos todos trabajan, y ganan mucho dinero.
INT: I don’t understand why my family doesn’t qualify for food stamps when a lot of neighbors do get them and they all work and make a lot of money.
Client: I understand ma’am, the parameters for eligibility may be a little different for them. I will give you more information about WIC, OK? It can help you by getting the formula for your baby as well as other food items such as beans, cheese or cereal.
INT: Entiendo señora, los parámetros de elegibilidad puede que sean un poco distintos para ellos. Yo le daré más información acerca del WIC, ¿está bien? Ello le puede ayudar a recibir la formula para su bebé, al igual que otros alimentos como frijoles, queso o cereal

INT: Really? And how long would that be for or until when could we get that help?
Client: You will still need to re-certify every 6 months for benefits. The WIC program can even help you with part of your children’s healthcare needs. They can help you keep track your children’s development milestones and weight to height ratio until the age of 5.
INT: Usted siempre tendrá que recertificar cada 6 meses para los beneficios. El programa WIC incluso le puede ayudar con parte del cuidado de salud de sus hijos. Pueden ayudarle a llevar control de los hitos/las etapas de desarrollo y de la proporción de la estatura con el peso hasta los 5 años.
LEP: ¿Y eso sería aquí mismo en el hospital con ustedes o donde tendría que ir para eso? Nosotros vivimos cerca y si nos manda muy lejos no se si podamos ir. ¿Ustedes tienen algún beneficio o subsidio que le ayude a uno con el transporte para estas citas?
INT: And would that be here at the hospital with you or where would I have to go for that? We live nearby and if you send us too far we would not be able to go. Do you provide any transportation benefits or subsidy for these appointments?
