LEP: Yo llené la solicitud para los beneficios y traje los documentos que necesitaban hace como 2 semanas y me dijeron que podía venir a preguntarles acerca de mi caso.

INT: I completed the application for benefits and brought all the needed documents about 2 weeks ago and they told me I could come and ask you about my case.

Client: Alright, I see that DHS (Department of Human Services) has approved your family. We sent out the information via mail just a few days ago so perhaps that’s why you haven’t received it yet.

INT: Muy bien, veo que el Departamento de Salud (de servicios humanos) ya aprobó a su familia. Se le envió la información por correo hace unos días así que tal vez por eso no la ha recibido aun.

Client: What I can see here is that you have been approved for medical assistance through welfare as well as food stamps. You are going to receive an allowance of $338 per month and let me give you the information for the medical assistance.

INT: Lo que puedo ver aquí es que se les aprobó asistencia médica por medio de la asistencia pública y también cupones alimenticios. Van a recibir un subsidio de $338 al mes y permítame darle la información de la asistencia médica.

Client: Correct ma’am. Your mother-in-law was disallowed because, even though she may live with you, she receives her SSI (Supplemental Security Income) benefits separately.

INT: Correcto señora. Su suegra no calificó porque, aunque viva con ustedes, ella recibe su Seguridad de Ingresos Suplementarios por separado

LEP: Ok, bueno ni modo. Otra pregunta, viera que en unos meses me gustaría regresar a trabajar, ¿hay manera alguna que el gobierno me ayude con el cuidado de mis hijos aunque sea mi suegra quien me los cuide?

INT: Alright then, another question. I would like to go back to work in a few months, is there anyway the government can help with child care even if it’s my mother in-law who will take care of them?
