A

Biological
- Chromosomal: Down’s syndrome (most common), Fragile X syndrome (2nd most common)

Metabolic

  • Cannot breakdown or produce of chemicals;
  • Others affect intelligence and development via PKU or Tay-Sachs disease

Non Biological

  • Prenatal problems
  • Birth complications
