Projective tests
Presented with ambiguous stimuli and asked to interpret them
Goal is to uncover unconscious thoughts, emotions by having client say the first thing that comes to mind
Spending time crafting a response makes it more likely we are consciously thinking about our answer and perhaps making it more socially desirable and not exactly accurate

MMPI, Big 5 OCEAN, Myers-Briggs
Achievement tests
reading, writing, math
Adaptive behavior scales
functioning, behavior, emotions
How to make a diagnosis
- Syndrome match known disorder in DSM 5
- Symptoms follow a particular course
- Clinicians attempt to paint a clinical picture and make a diagnosis
