What is Pesach another word for?
Passover
Summarize what happened at pass over/Pesach.
Moses asked the Pharoah to let the Israelites go. Pharoah refused. God sent 10 plagues. The tenth plague was the death of first born son. Moses told Israelites to smear lamb’s blood on their doors. doors with lamb’s blood were ignored by the angel of death. All the others were killed. Pharoah let them go.
Which book is the story of Pesach found in?
Exodus. Specifically 12:1-30.
What did Moses and the Israelites do after their escape?
They wandered the desert for 40 years before eventually finding Caanan.
How did God command the Israelites to celebrate Pesach?
They needed to eat unleavened bread (bread without yeast) for 7 days each year.
What is the most important preparation for Pesach?
To remove all of the Chametz from the home. Down to the last crumb.
What is counted as Chametz?
Normal bread with yeast and any grains such as wheat, barley or oats. Many Jews also remove all rice, peanuts, corn and beans just to be safe.
What is the point of getting rod of all the leavened bread/Chametz?
It symbolizes the hasty escape from Egypt and reminds them how they left so quickly that their bread didn’t have time to rise.
How long does Pesach last?
It lasts seven or eight days.
What do Jews do on the first day of Pesach?
Jewish families hold a seder service and celebrate with a special meal.

A paste of chopped apples, walnuts and wine.
What does red wine symbolize?
The blood of the lambs
What do the lamb bone and the roasted egg symbolize?
The sacrifices made in the temple.
What do the bitter herbs represent?
the bitterness of slavery
What does Pesach celebrate the start of?
The Jewish nation.
