Flexion
The angle at a joint decreases
Extension
The angle at a joint increases
Abduction
The movement of a limb away from the midline of the body
Adduction
The movement of a limb towards the midline of the body
Rotation
Movement around a single axis or pivot point
Circumduction
Movement in the shape of a cone/circle
Plantar-flexion
Extending/ pointing toes downwards, away from the shin
Dorsi- flexion
Bringing the toes up, towards the shin
Horizontal Flexion
Shoulder starts in a fixed position, parallel to the ground, the arm moves inwards towards the midline of the body
Horizontal Extension
Shoulder stats in a fixed position, parallel to the ground, the arm moves outward away from the midline of the body
Eversion
The joint action at the ankle when turning the sole of the foot outwards
Inversion
The joint action at the ankle when turning the sole of the foot medially inwards
Supination
The rotation of the forearm laterally so that the palm of the hand faces upwards
Pronation
The rotation of the forearm laterally so that the palm of the hand faces downwards
