4.2 Students of limited mobility who are not wheelchair bound will not routinely require an I.S.P. If the school’s fire evacuation plan provides for that student’s evacuation from the building, an I.S.P. is not required. If the student is of such limited mobility that a holding room would be required, then an I.S.P. would be developed. I.S.P. teams will provide assistance to principals in making these determination.
INFO:ABC 3-85 add 2 page 2
4.1 I.S.P.s are child specific and school specific fire evacuation plans which will be developed by a designated team for each wheelchair bound student who attends classes above or below the ground floor in any school where there are no holding rooms or where holding rooms have not yet been approved by the FDNY. The development of I.S.P.’s is an interim measure to ensure student safety until, students are in settings with holding rooms that are complete and approved. I.S.P.’s are components of the total fire evacuation plan of a given school.
