Cities equipped to handle strangers and use them as an asset, should have three core elements:
A

- Eyes on the street belonging to the people themselves. Buildings oriented towards the street.
- Sidewalks must have users quite continuously.

What are the two basic aims that planners should strive for?
A
- Secure the streets where public space is clearly public and not mixed with private or unused space (clear borders).
- Ensure public street spaces have eyes on them continuously.

What are the reasons stores should be sprinkled along sidewalks?
A
- Provide reasons for people to use the sidewalks (activity).
