Found in stratum spinosum, involved in allergic and cell- mediated immune response to skin

Dermal Papillary layer
Help cement the epidermis and the dermis together
Dermal Reticular layer
Consists of dense irregular connective tissue
Hypodermis
Contains toucher receptors- pacinian corpuscle and meissner’s corpuscle
Vibrissae
Whiskers- contain sesnroy endings
Wool/secondary hairs
Form the undercoat
Arrector pili Muscle
Allows hair to stand on air
Sudoriderous glands
Paw pads, exocrine sweat glands
Sebaceous glands
Traps moisture, keeps hair soft and helps reduce skin infection
Hair shaft
Visible above skin
Hair root
Buried within the skin
Hair follicle
Anchors the hair
Hair bulb
Hair grows from here
Anagen growth phase
Cells are added at the base of the root, hair legthens
Catagen growth phase
Peroid of transition
Telogen growth phase
Maximum length of hair, hair stops growing and held in resting phase
