Ovarian Artery
From aorta caudal to the renal artery and supplies the ovary, uterine tube and uterine horn
Uterine Artery
Connection with the ovarian artery and supplies the caudal part of the tract.
Ovaries Functions
- Produce 0va/eggs ready for fertilisation
- Act as endorcrine gland and secrete hormones oestrogen and progesterone
Ovarain Bursa
Small opening into the uterine tube which allows ova to leave the ovary
Oogenesis
Production of female sex cells (Ova)

- Collect ova as they release from Graafian follices

Uterus Functions
- Provide a rceptacle where embryos develop

Outer layer if uterine body
Myometrium
Smooth muscle, middle layer of uterine body
Endometrium
Inner layer on uterine body, thickens in pregnancy
Cervix
Short, thick walled muscular sphincter that connects to uterine body with vagina
The Labia
They are held close to avoid infection but during pro-oestrus and oestrus in the canine the labia enlarges
