Q

What is the ECAM Display DU priority

A

1) E/WD (upper ECAM) takes priority over the SD (lower ECAM)
2) If the upper ECAM fails or fails the E/WD automatically transfers to the lower ECAM.

Q

How do the Brightness control knobs on the ND work?

A

1) Inner (small) knob - controls general brightness of the symbols, rotating this knob counterclockwise turns off the ND
2) Outer (bigger) knob - controls the brightness of WX Radar displays and EGPWS Terrain displays

9
Q

What is the function of the three Display Management Computers (DMCs)

A

1) DMCs process signals received from sensors and other computers on the airplane for display on the DUs

  • DMC 1 = CA PFD, ND, and E/WD
  • DMC 2 = FO PFD, ND and SD
  • DMC 3 = backup for either DMC1 or DMC2

Q

What is an independent failure message? Where and how will it be presented?

A

1) Failure that affects an isolated system without degrading the performance of other systems or components

2) Presented on the left column of the E/WD memo section
- Affected System is underlined, eg: F/CTL, HYD, ELEC
- Specific Failure follows, eg: F/CTL ELAC 1 FAULT

Q

What is a primary failure message? Where and how will it be presented

A

1) A failure that affects the use of other systems or components.

2) Presented in the left column of the E/WD memo section as a “BOXED ITEM”

13
Q

What is the indication of a DU failure? Will you get an ECAM message?

A

1) Failed DU will flash, go blank or be distorted
2) DUs are not monitored by the FWCs, so there will be no ECAM message.

Q

How are pumps presented on the SD, what do the following indications mean with regard to pump position and operation:

Inline Green
Crossline Green
Crossline Amber
LO amber

A

Inline Green = pump is on and pressure is normal
Crossline Green = pump is off in accordance with system logic
Crossline Amber = pump has been manually turned off
LO amber = pump is on but pressure is low

16
Q

Where is the SATUS page displayed, what does it display and how can it be displayed

A

1) Located on the SD and provides an operational summary of the state of the aircraft

2) Displayed by
- Pressing STS pb on the ECAM control panel
- Automatically as part of the ECAM Non-Normal Procedure
- Automatically when CONF 1 (FLAPS 1) has been selected in the approach phase and the status page is not empty.

17
Q

What does an STS REMINDER (white boxed STS) mean when it appears on the lower portion of the E/WD

A

Reminds crew that information exists on the STATUS page.

18
Q

What do the following functions of the SWITCHING panel do

ATT HDG
AIR DATA
EIS DMC
ECAM/ ND XFR

A

1) ATT HDG - selects IRU 3 for attitude and heading info when IRU 1 or 2 fail
2) AIR DATA - selects ADR 3 for pitot static info when ADR 1 or 2 fail
3) EIS DMC - Selects DMC 3 when DMC 1 or 2 fail
4) ECAM/ ND XFR - transfers the lower ECAM information to the CA or FO ND screen

19
Q

Can the ND screen information on either the CA or FO side be transferred to the lower ECAM?

A

No

20
Q

What does the CLR pb on the ECAM control panel do?

A

Used to clear failure messages and sequence through the SD pages during an ECAM non-normal procedure

If there are multiple failures displayed, pressing the CLR pb will clear the first message and all its associated action steps.

21
Q

What does the RCL pb do?

A

1) Recall cleared failure messages THAT ARE STILL ACTIVE
2) If there are no cleared messaged NORMAL appears on the E/WD memo section
3) If held for more than 3 seconds, the E/WD displays CAUTION messages that were cancelled by EMER CANC pb.

22
Q

what does the TO CONFIG pb do

A

1) Used to test the T/O warning system
2) Simulates the application of T/O power
3) Generates all warnings associated with the aircraft not correctly configured for takeoff.

23
Q

What will the EMER CANC pb do in response to ECAM WARNINGS

A

1) Cancels the aural warning for as long as the failure condition continues
2) Extinguishes the MASTER WARNING lights
3) Does not affect the ECAM message display (MASTER WARNING message remains in view)

24
Q

What will the EMER CANC pb do in response to ECAM CAUTIONS

A

1) Cancels the aural warning for as long as the failure condition continues
2) Extinguishes the MASTER CAUTION lights
3) Cancels ECAM message display for the remainder of the flight (MASTER CAUTION message is removed)
4) Cancelled MASTER CAUTION messages may be recalled by pressing the RCL pb for 3 seconds

25
Q

When should the EMER CANC pb be used

A

suppress spurious MASTER CAUTIONS
