Ice and Rain Flashcards
Which areas of the wings and engines are provided ice protection
1) Wings- outboard 3 slats (3,4,5)
2) Engines - engine nacelle leading edge
Does an engine’s bleed valve need to be open to use its engine anti-ice system
No - it is plumbed independently from the HP compressor so the EBV does not have to be open use engine anti ice
What are the indications when engine anti-ice is selected on
1) ON (blue) - on the respective ENG 1(2) pb
2) ENG A.ICE and IGNITION (green) - on the E/WD memo section
What are the indications of wing anti-ice being selected on
1) ON (blue) - illuminates the WING pb
2) WING A. ICE (green) - appears on the E/WD memo section
3) ANTI ICE (white) - appears on each side of the BLEED page
When does the FAULT (amber) light in the WING and ENG 1(2) ANTI ICE pbs appear and what does it indicate?
1) Appears momentarily during valve transition.
2) Represents disagreement between the selected position and actual valve position
3) On the WING pb also indicates low bleed air pressure is being detected.
How will the PROBE WINDOW HEAT pb operate in the AUTO (light out) mode on the ground and in the air
1) On the ground with at least one engine running all flight deck windows/ windshields, pitot and AOA probes and static ports are automatically heated at a low heat level
-TAT probes are not heated on the ground
2) In the Air - heat levels are increased and the TAT probes are heated.
How will the PROBE WINDOW HEAT pb operate when selected to ON mode on the ground with engines not running
All flight deck windows/ windshields, pitot and AOA probes and static ports are automatically heated at a low heat level
-TAT probes are not heated on the ground
