Q

What are the indications that external high pressure air is being applied to the pneumatic system

A

If there is no internal air source provided (ie APU or Engine bleed air), a PSI value is displayed on the left side of the ECAM BLEED page. By default the air source must be an external high pressure air cart.

Q

What happens if the primary channel of the Zone Controller fails?

A

1) ALTN MODE appears at the top of the ECAM COND page

   - The secondary channel operates as a backup
   - Flow setting function and optimized temp function are not available
   - HOT AIR and TRIM AIR valves close

Q

What happens if only the secondary channel of the Zone Controller fails?

A

1) There is no effect on Zone Temp Regulation (still have primary)

2) Backup mode and Temp indications will be lost

Q

What happens if both the Primary and Secondary channels of the Zone Controllers fail

A

1) PACK REG appears at the top of the ECAM COND page

 - All information from the ECAM COND page is removed

- Optimized and backup temp regulation is lost

 - Packs deliver a fixed temp.

Q

How many Cabin Pressure Controllers (CPCs) are installed, how are they designated and where is the active system displayed?

16
Q

How do the active and standby CPCs switch roles?

A

1) Automatically - shortly after each landing and in the event the active CPC fails

2) Manually - placing the MODE SEL pb to MAN for 10 seconds and then returning back to AUTO (lights out) mode

17
Q

How does the LDG ELEV selector function in the AUTO (detent) position?

A

FMGCs provide the pressurization system with the LFE.

18
Q

How does the LDG ELEV selector function in any other position other than AUTO (turned clockwise). When would you use this?

A

1) LFE is set manually
2) Used when both FMGCs have failed or if landing airport is not in the FMS data base

19
Q

What does the MODE SEL pb do?

A

1) Deactivates AUTO pressurization mode

2) When selected (light on) enables the use of MAN V/S CTL toggle switch to manually control the outflow valve

20
Q

What are the functions of the MAN V/S toggle switch?

A

UP - commands outflow valve open, reduces pressure “takes cabin up”

DOWN - commands outflow valve closed, increases cabin pressure “takes cabin down”

21
Q

How can the pressurization system performance be monitored

A

ECAM CAB PRESS or Cruise page

22
Q

If the flight must return to the departure airport immediately after takeoff, what actions must be taken by the the crew with regard to the pressurization system? Why?

A

No action is required because the system will automatically return the cabin to match the takeoff altitude (Abort MODE).

23
Q

What will happen if you place the DITCHING pb to the ON position

A

The following openings will close

  • Outflow valve (if the MODE SEL pb is AUTO)
  • Ram Air Inlet
  • Avionics Ventilation Inlet and Extract valves
  • Pack flow control valves
24
Q

How will you know if smoke is detected in the avionics compartment? How do you configure the aircraft in the event of AVIONICS SMOKE

A

1) FAULT will appear on the BLOWER and EXTRACT pb

2) Place the BLOWER and EXTRACT pbs to OVRD (white) which will”

   - Allow additional air from the AC system to enter the compartment
  - force all air inside the compartment overboard
