Air Conditioning/ Pressurization/ Ventilation/ Pneumatic Flashcards
What are the functions of each position of the X Bleed Selector
1) SHUT - Commands X-Bleed Valve Closed overriding system logic
2) AUTO - Auto Logic of the X-Bleed Valve
3) Open - Commands X Bleed Valve Open, overriding system logic
When does Auto logic control the opening and closing of the X-Bleed Valve
1) Commanded Open when the APU bleed valve is open
2) Commanded Closed when the APU bleed valve is closed
3) Commanded Closed when a bleed leak is detected
What are the indications that external high pressure air is being applied to the pneumatic system
If there is no internal air source provided (ie APU or Engine bleed air), a PSI value is displayed on the left side of the ECAM BLEED page. By default the air source must be an external high pressure air cart.
What are the indications of the Engine Bleed Valves and HP (High Pressure) valves on the ECAM BLEED Page
1) Engine Bleed Valves are next to the respective engine’s ( 1 and 2) on lower portion of the page
2) HP Valves are on the lower portion next to the white HP designator
Are the IP (Intermediate Pressure) check valves specifically depicted? How are they represented?
Not specifically depicted, but designated by a white IP designator
What are the indications when APU bleed air is in use?
1) APU Bleed valve indicates open (vertical green line) on the ECAM BLEED page
2) APU BLEED is displayed in green on the memo section of the E/WD
What areas of the aircraft can a bleed air leak be detected?
1) Wings - each wing bleed air duct
2) Engine Pylon - area from the engine to the respective wing bleed duct
3) Aft fuselage - area surrounding the APU bleed air duct
What happens if the primary channel of the Zone Controller fails?
1) ALTN MODE appears at the top of the ECAM COND page
- The secondary channel operates as a backup - Flow setting function and optimized temp function are not available - HOT AIR and TRIM AIR valves close
What happens if only the secondary channel of the Zone Controller fails?
1) There is no effect on Zone Temp Regulation (still have primary)
2) Backup mode and Temp indications will be lost
What happens if both the Primary and Secondary channels of the Zone Controllers fail
1) PACK REG appears at the top of the ECAM COND page
- All information from the ECAM COND page is removed - Optimized and backup temp regulation is lost - Packs deliver a fixed temp.
What is the effect of an AC Pack Controller Primary Channel Failure
1) Secondary operates as a backup
2) Pack flow is fixed at the previous setting
What is the effect of an AC Pack Controller Secondary channel failure
1) Has no effect on pack flow regulation, but backup mode is lost
2) ECAM indications relating to corresponding pack are lost
What is the effect if both Primary and Secondary channels of an AC Pack Controller fail?
- Pack outlet temp is controlled and stabilized by the anti-ice valve and
- ECAM indications related to the pack are lost
Which cargo compartment is heated and ventilated, where are the controls located, and how is temp monitored?
1) Aft
2) Overhead Cargo Heat panel
3) Monitored on the ECAM COND or CRUISE pages
How many Cabin Pressure Controllers (CPCs) are installed, how are they designated and where is the active system displayed?
1) Two CPCs installed
2) Designated as SYS1 and SYS2
3) Active system viewed on the ECAM CAB PRESS page
